Austrian Mint Silver Philharmonic Coins

This coin program was launched in 2008 and has become one of the most prestigious silver bullion coin programs in Europe.  Both collectors and investors love every release in this series due based upon their high quality and gorgeous designs.

Known all over the world for manufacturing the finest of coins and bars, the Austrian Mint was the only mint in the Republic of Austria for many decades after it was established in 1919. In addition to commemorative and bullion coins, the Mint produces circulation coins and blanks for many other countries.

Each of these coins is struck using 1 troy ounce of 0.999 (99.9%) pure silver. Moreover, these coins are assigned legal tender status in the European Union – carrying face values of €1.50 (Euro) each.

The obverse side of this silver coin showcases an exquisite set of musical instruments with the cello in the middle, a set of violins on either side, a harp on the right, and a bassoon and the Vienna horn featured on the left. Above the set of instruments, the words ‘Wiener Philharmoniker’ and ‘Silber’ are inscribed.

The famed array of instruments used by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra is depicted on the reverse sides of these coins. The Vienna Philharmonic, founded in 1842, is an orchestra considered to be one of the finest in the world and this coin pays tribute to it in style.
